Blood is Blue is a painting-performance where the artist experimented with queer-abstraction employing phthalo blue paint a metaphor about gender. During the performance, Barry used handmade paintbrushes and other items to make unusual marks and gestures. By using OBS technology (open broadcast system), a mobile projector and her iPhone as a body-cam, Barry was able to record and project the performance; the audience was able to see themselves as well as details from the performance projected onto a wall beside the performance space.
