GTUDE was a site-specific durational performance where Barry investigated notions of desire and secrecy in the work of the twentieth century legend Gertrude Stein. GTUDE was a 4-hr durational performance that explored body-object interactions and included a reading from Stein’s book,  “The Autobiography of Alice B Toklas”. During the performance Barry painted with whiskey while creating tableaus throughout the space of the bookstore.

GTUDE took place in Glad Day bookshop which at the time was the oldest LGBTQIA2S+ bookstore in North America located in Toronto, Canada. The performance took place during the World Pride celebrations in 2014. Sadly Glad Day bookshop no longer exists.
